SwipeRail for Android

Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 2026  ·  Version 1.0

TL;DR

SwipeRail does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything the app does stays entirely on your device. No servers. No analytics. No ads.

01

What SwipeRail does

SwipeRail is a standalone alphabetical app launcher for Android. It reads the list of apps installed on your device so it can display them in an A–Z list, and it remembers a small amount of your preferences (pinned apps, hidden apps, and handedness setting) locally on your device.

That's it. The app has no internet connection and communicates with no external services.

02

Data stored on your device

SwipeRail stores the following data locally in Android SharedPreferences. None of this data ever leaves your device.

Data Purpose Stored where
Pinned app package names Remembers which apps you've pinned to the favourites row On-device only
Hidden app package names Remembers which apps you've chosen to hide On-device only
Handedness preference Remembers whether you prefer the scrubber on the left or right edge On-device only
Installed app list Displayed in the launcher list; held in memory only, never written to disk In-memory only
03

Permissions explained

SwipeRail requests two Android permissions.

Permission Why it's needed
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES Required on Android 11+ to enumerate all installed apps for display in the launcher list. App names and package names are used only within the app and are never transmitted.
VIBRATE Used for haptic feedback (a light tick) when dragging across the A–Z scrubber. No data is involved.

SwipeRail does not request internet access, overlay permissions, accessibility service access, or any foreground service permissions.

04

Data sharing & third parties

SwipeRail shares no data with any third party — because it collects none. There are no advertising SDKs, no analytics libraries, no crash reporting services, and no remote servers of any kind involved in the operation of this app.

confirmed  Zero third-party data sharing.

05

Children's privacy

SwipeRail does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. As no data is collected at all, the app is safe for users of any age.

06

Changes to this policy

If a future version of SwipeRail introduces features that change how data is handled, this page will be updated and the effective date revised. The policy will always reflect the current published version of the app.
